Rabbit Fishing

I probably should read this story first but it looks like to me like a cannibal rabbit fishing. Once again. This could be me.

Dopey

Dopey was a pimp...wait, that would make him dope. Right.

Good Sports

20/20 hindsight in sports is hilarious sometimes. Here are two examples...

Exhibit A:

Professional athletes admitting to taking performance enhancing, albeit years later, while crushing home run records and being held up as heroes is the best.

Exhibit B:

A book encompassing all of basketball with a giant picture of Tracy McGrady just rules. I'm pretty sure this was published in the mid-2000's when T-Mac was in the hunt for scoring titles most years but once again, hindsight is amazing. What, they couldn't find a shot of him behind the bench with Houston wearing a suit? Ohhhh, I kid (still funny to me).

Space Cat

Cats rule. This one rules space. And Venus.

Cats in Clothes

I don't have the foggiest notion why I feel this way but cats in clothes totally weirds me out. And I have two cats whom I love...it-it's just strange to me. Exhibit A:

Beginner's Bible

I'm no Biblical scholar but didn't a young king David deeply embed a smooth stone into Goliath's cranium at some point causing his demise? If so, why is he in such a giggly mood?

Banana Blitz

Holy crap I'm totally tripping balls!! Is that a giant banana carrying bunches of bananas?

Thursday, September 15, 2011

Rabbit Hill

I have two things concerning today's post. First of all, did the rabbit jump really highly, where they dropped from a plan, or something else? I mean what's happening? My second point is this. They're evil, right?

Whales and Dolphins

My only question is how they got all of those aquatic animals to pose so nicely at the same time.

Something Upstairs

Awwww crap...I hate it when ghosts move in to the attic. They clutter up the place with books...and exercise equipment they haven't used in yeeeeeeears. It's so annoying.

Tom Brady: Jedi Knight

It's a little known fact that before slinging the ole pigskin around in New England, Tom Brady was a Jedi Knight. Just take a look.

Science Surprises

As I've always said, terrifying monsters make for the best scientists.

Funny Man

Rule #1 about being funny. If you're funny, you don't need to tell people you're funny. Ask TBS.

Power

Holy shit!! Power is scary sometimes.

Grimms' Fairy Tales

You know something? I, too, enjoy playing ball with the frog in my backyard.

Catching a Booby

Heh heh...he's catching a booby. I'm clearly a 14 year old trapped in the body of a 36 year old man.

Tuesday, August 2, 2011

A Dolphin Named Bob

Call me crazy, but I'm pretty sure they named the dolphin Bob purely so that the illustrator could have him jump through the O on the cover. This is complete speculation on my part, mind you.

The Hardy Boys: Folk Singers

It's little known fact that before starting their mystery solving career, the Hardy Boys were once considered rising stars in the folk music scene in the 60's. History is chalk full of fun facts like that.

The Hot & Cold Summer

Oh, yes...The Hot & Cold Summer in which Pippi Longstocking and Harry Potter hang out with their friend, let's call him Johnny, and do silly things like pour drinks on each other.

Don't Cut My Hair!

All I have to say about today's submission is that Fido is ready to THROW DOWN.

Monday, July 18, 2011

The Wizard of Optometry

It's a little known fact that the prequel to L. Frank Baum's classic "The Wizard of Oz" was titled "Dorothy and the Gang Go to the Optometrist" Don't believe me? Take a look at the cover of this edition of "Oz" and judge for yourself.

Dinosaur's in the Library

I've decided that should I ever become a children's librarian one day I'll *have* to hire a friendly triceratops to keep the kids in line. But also to enjoy the stories.

My Teacher is an Alien

Okay so I don't know if I'd say that on the face (no pun intended) of it, that this submission totally follows the thread of this blog. However, let me point out to you that the alien posing as a teacher below bears a striking resemblance to George W. Bush while wearing his mask. Take a look at the mask he's ripping off his face, and you tell me. I mean, it really would have explained a lot. That is all.

I Left My Sneakers in Dimension X

Sometimes you just have to cut your losses and leave the sneakers in Dimension X because, man, they're gone.

Grandpa's in the Litter Box

I live with five, but own two, felines (I know it's a weird trait for a Librarian) and I'm still waiting for one of them to light up a stogy while in the litter box. Freaking layabouts.

Harvey's Horrible Snake Disaster

I would like to re-title to the following book to "Harvey's Horrible Snake Imminent Death" because that's what's really happening here. Just saying.

Thursday, June 30, 2011

Could Be Worse

I have a serious complaint with today's submission. Older gentleman...how could it be worse? Seriously. You have a GIANT bird taking you to their, no doubt, equally giant offspring for dinner and it *could be worse*? I, sir, disagree.

Two Points to Murder

Oh look. A Nancy Drew book. I wonder what she'll...HOLY CRAP SOMEONE'S HANGING FROM THE RIM!!!

Monday, June 27, 2011

Fast Talking-Dolphin

Never, and I repeat, NEVER, trust a fast-talking dolphin. They're up to no damn good.

Thursday, June 23, 2011

Naughty Andy

Don't even ask me why I was flipping through a Raggedy Andy book but put that aside for the moment as I found the image below. Methinks Andy had ulterior motives...

Wednesday, June 22, 2011

Meta Santa

There's nothing quite like reading a book about yourself in which the exact present scenario around you is displayed on the cover of said book, hence creating an endless loop...and if you're Santa. That's pretty neat, too.

The Tin Man

I would like to think that most of us have at least seen the film adaptation of The Wizard of Oz. Now I'll take a wild guess and assume that this figure drops of precipitously for those who have read the book. I simply bring this up as I was decidedly NOT prepared for the image below from the book. My memory could be fuzzy but I do not recall the part in the movie when the Tin Man eviscerated forty wolves with an axe. This could just be me, though...

The Westing Game

I almost passed by today's submission and then noticed that Uncle Sam is in a coffin. I'm sure this is perfectly explained in the text but still.

Trouble River

I know that living in the 21st century has a lot of perks to it, especially in terms of transportation. From high speed cars, helicopters, planes, space craft and the lot but I didn't realize how far we had come until I came across today's submission. Apparently in the 19th century, people would just cut out the front porch, with grandma still sitting in her chair, and hit the rapids to get around. Man, were they tough people...

Arthur's Underwear

I'm pretty sure most of us have had this particular nightmare from time to time although part of my rationale for including this cover is that I might bear a sliiiiight resemblance to Arthur on some days...sorta...what do you expect? I'm a librarian. It's kind of like how people start looking like their pets and vice versa.

A Rocket in my Pocket

So I wasn't sure where to start so I'm going to go alphabetically as I titled the images in the folder on my computer because I'm horribly predicable that way.

Anyway, our first submission has me relieved that it was only a rocket...and nothing else in said pocket.

Welcome to Trapped in the Stacks

Well what's all this then?!! I love English bobbies. Anyway...Hi, my name is Josh. Pleased to meet you. Well what all this is is a way for me to stop keeping the pure unadulterated unintentional comedy of school librarianship to myself. You see, at one time I was an academic librarian working in colleges but I always thought there was something missing in my life. This something came to fruition when I was hired to work as a project librarian at a K-6 school and discovered the magic of children's books and how is it that *nobody* caught way too many unintentionally hilarious covers and content. I felt it too good not to share, so this is my gift to you, dear world. So welcome and stay with me as I'm...Trapped in the Stacks.
